Ragotiere Muscadet Vieilles Vignes
La Ragotière is the former noble house of the Loré de la Ragotière family in the 14th century. The founder was a comrade-in-arms of Bertrand Du Guesclin. The castle was destroyed during the French Revolution. This noble family remained owners of the estate until the 19th century.
In 1947 the Couillaud Brothers with a strong winemaking hertiage dating back a further 150 years to over some the oldest plots of the Muscadet vineyards. They also experimented greatly with a combination of Melon de Bourgogne and Chardonnay diversity in the Loire Valley. Today, Amélie and Vincent the 7th generation, have brought their sensitivity to the vineyards and are in the process of organic conversion from 2019.
Melon de Bourgogne oriniginally came from the Nantes region. Today it is only found as a portion of the grape varieties in Muscadet. It was imported to Nantes by Burgundian monks in the 17th century. It was named Melon because of the roundness of its leaves. This is a typical Muscadet with a mineral edge, lemon falvour and the lightest texture is lifted by intense acidity.
