Pazo Cilleiro Albarino
Pazo Cilleiro is a classic producer in Rías Baixas with a winemaking legacy dating back 10 centuries through travelling monks who settled in the area. The winery focuses on pure expressions of Albariño, Spain’s signature white, zesty and aromatic and just delicious. Rias Baixas, the birthplace of Albarino, is in the north west of Spain in the Galicia area where the Atlantic Ocean influence is very prominant. In this area grapes are grown on horizontal pergola trellising so work is done under the vines. Cool breezes stop the area from getting too warm which allows the wine to retain that fresh structure. The thought of this wild ocean as well as the granitic, sandy, acidic soil combine to give the wine a slightly salty, tangy flavour that means the wine is perfect with fresh seafood and in particular oysters. A touch of ocean in the glass! Complete, refreshing and very agreeable.
