Paul Jaboulet Aine, Parallele 45

A classic since 1950, Parallèle 45 is the oldest Côtes du Rhône brand still in existence. Parallèle 45 is named after the 45th parallel, a famous circle of latitude that marks the midpoint between the equator and the North Pole. It is known as the "Latitude of Great Wines" and passes over the cellars of Paul Jaboulet Aîné. This white Rhone is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne and Clairette. This medum bodied white wine is fruity and crisp with notes of mango, peach, apricot, lemon and white flowers.

Parallèle 45 is named after the famous latitude where great wines are born worldwide. It spans across France and passes over the cellars of Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Founded in 1834 on the hill of l’Hermitage in Tain l’Hermitage, the Paul Jaboulet Aîné house oversees an exceptional heritage that brings together the most famous terroirs of the northern Rhone valley and produces quintessential great wines. The specific Parallele 45 label has been produced every year since its creation in 1950. The current owner and winemaker Caroline Frey took over in 2006 and began the project of converting the vineyards and winery to organic and biodynamic farming, receiving certification of both in 2016. This cuvee is a blend of the Rhone Valley’s most iconic white grapes: 30% Viognier, 30% Grenache Blanc, 20% Roussanne, 15% Marsanne and only 5% Clairette. The vines have an average age of 40 years old. Hand-picked at maturity and directly whole bunch pressed; The wine is fermented at low temperature for 2 weeks in thermo-regulated tanks in order to keep all their aromatic potential. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats on fine lees. This wine shows floral and fruit aromas, citrus notes, and a touch of exquisite freshness.
