Pago del Cielo, Celeste Verdejo

“The best wines do not hide secrets: they are a true reflection of the place from which they come” We like this sentiment as we are firm believers that the more interesting wines we see are unique to the areas they come from. Verdejo is the dominant grape in the Rueda region of Spain. Silky feel with tastes of pineapple, fennel, aniseed.

This pago (estate) is owned by the Torres family, a famous wine family of Spain with vineyards located throughout the country. On high plateaus above the Duero river, Rueda is arguably Spains most famous white wine region, especially with those wines made from the Verdejo variety which accounts for around 89% of the vineyard area.

This variety has a few similarities to Sauvignon Blanc and could definitely replace this in your fridge. A good intensity of lively, herbacous fruit, fresh acidity and a dry, crisp lingering finish.
