Mullineux, Kloof Street Swartland Rouge
The name Mullineux originates from ‘Watermill’ in French, which is represented by the millstone emblem as part of the design of the Mullineux Swartland logo. This further links Mullineux to the Swartland, which is known as the ‘bread-basket’ of South Africa due to its beautiful wheat fields.
Chris & Andrea Mullineux are some of younger, cool and massively capable folk making wine in the Swartland. They have chosen the name “Kloof Street” for their entry level wines. This label draws its inspiration from is a vibrant cullinary street in the city of Cape Town sitting under tablecloth of Table Mountain.
This Swartland medley shows great balance, rounded with hints of holiday spice on the finish. Each variety in the blend adds wonderful depth to the wine – the Cinsault brings perfume, Tinta Barocca brings tannin, the Grenache brings fruit character, and the Syrah backbone ties it all together. Intended to be drunk now and over the next 3/5 years.
