Domaine Maucoil Cotes du Rhone – Villages
Chateau Maucoil has been prominent in the Rhone Valley for hundreds of years. The first occupants of the Chateau were Romans from Cesar’s legions! The winery is situated in the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation applies to 16 villages in the Southern Rhone and has higher quality standards than the standard Cotes du Rhone. Maucoil still has all 13 of the different varieties allowed in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This wine is made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Grenache provides the power, Syrah the freshness and tannin and Mourvedre adds age-ability. They are blended together to create a tremendous approachable, crowd-pleasing wine at a great price. This wine is big and ripe while not necessarily jammy but still definitely a mouthful!
