La Valentina Pecorino

Pecorino is another native grape variety of Italy that is not found in NZ. The name means “little sheep” and is probably more widely associated with Pecorino cheese.

There is no link between the cheese and wine; although local legend suggests that the grapes were a treat for the flocks of sheep on their trips to lower pastures. Even if there is tangible connection they actually can be enjoyed together when given the chance.

Sabatino, Roberto e Andrea Di Properzio are some of the most warm hearted guys you could meet. They had enough of everyone waxing on about Chianti and Barolo, so the embarked on a wine
making venture to show how great wines from Abruzzo can be.

The grapes are grown in organic vineyards in the hilly Pescara area of Abruzzo in Central Italy. In some cases the vines are actually grown on pergolas similar to how we grow kiwifruit. This wine is dry, light, refreshing and in that typical Italian way just really easy drinking.
