La Parrilla ‘El Pinto’ Palomino

Crisp, bright and fresh - this is 100% Palomino, the grape most commonly found in Sherry - but made as a dry, fresh, non-oxidative white wine.

Palomino is normally used to make the great Sherry wines of Jerez in Spain. But don’t be put off if you don’t like Sherry, ( just don’t get us started though on how good those wines can be!) as this grape grown on these great white, chalky soils has the ability to be a fresh and delicious as good Chablis.

The Hacienda La Parilla is owned by the Gonzalez brothers whose estates date back to the 1880’s. They are certtified organic and also farm free ranging Black Iberian pigs! Those cured meats along with the local Manchego cheese are just perfect with this wine.

Maybe its because they are situated by the coast, but the idea of a wine tasting salty really resonates here in New Zealand. It’s the after taste that feels like saltwater in a good way! So try it with kai moana of your choice for another great food match.
