Kokako Farms ‘Uccello’ Arneis Brut Sparkling NV

An Italian grape variety needed an Italian name! Uccello (uc‧cèl‧lo) meaning bird. In this case the North Island Kōkako. This cuvée is fresh and lively, with aromas of citrus blossom, and hints of lemon grass. The perfect aperitif and celebration wine.

Sitting on the left bank of the Ngaruroro river, the vineyards  benefit from the famed Hawkes Bay river gravels, which help deliver the rich, full base notes. We fell head over heels for the Awen Chardonnay and this Arneis is an incredibly versitile northern Italian variety with the nickname of “little rascal”.

Crisp, dry, a touch of fruit spice, white fleshed fruits and citrus flavours with a touch of pith. Medium bubble textures that burst quickly. A perfect match for seafood, light hors d’oeuvres, creamy cheeses, salads or simply enjoy it on its own.
