Heritages, Cotes du Rhone, Ogier
Cotes du Rhone wines are often a very safe purchase due to their incredible approachability and warmth. These wines originate in the warmer, sunny Mediterranean climate found in Southern France where the Grenache and Syrah grapes get to full ripeness. Maison Ogier was founded in 1859 in the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape but their wines look to link the diversity of soils and grapes that can be found in the Rhone Valley. They have a selection of vineyards in the area from which they source fruit and these are then blended together for this wine. A great value wine that will not disappoint. That high alcohol of 14.5% certainly means it packs a punch!
