Fattoria San Lorenzo “Di Gino” Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

Nothing says "refreshing" like Italian white wines. Mouthwateringly bright, appealingly fruity and pretty much always easy to pair with food; it's especially hard to go wrong with Verdicchio. And this is one of our favourites because it's both refreshing and complex. Watch how the flavours just keep keep on going after you've taken a sip.

Ok, so the name of this wine looks like a mouthful. But this mouthful is one you will definitely be happy about, as this is one of the loveliest Verdicchios we’ve had in a while. No surprise, Fattoria San Lorenzo is a multi-generational winery known to make some of the most extraordinary Verdicchio coming out of the region of Le Marche, which is in cental Italy. The current winemaker, Natalino Cognaletti, has named this wine after his father, Gino, who spent a great deal of his life selecting specific clones of the Verdicchio grape from heritage vineyards in order to make the most expressive and interesting versions of Verdicchio. This drop comes from an area quite close to the Adriatic sea, which lends just a wee hint of pleasant saltiness. It also spends 6 months ageing on the lees (maturing along with the expired yeasts before being clarified), which lends just a touch of lovely rounded weight and added length sand complexity.
