Dune Mingsha Shan

Mingsha Shan shows the lighter side of McLaren Vale Shiraz. A portion of Fiano skins were co-fermented to highlight the fragrance in the region’s favourite grape. This little beauty features a lifted nose of rosehip, summer berries and black pepper. The palate is spicy with cherry and mulberry fruit.

St. DUNE is a project from the talented brothers Duncan and Peter Lloyd using fruit sourced from a vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. The wines are made from vines planted on the Desert Sands vineyard located in Blewitt Springs, which is approximately 15 kilometres from the ocean and 5 kilometres from the Willunga Range in South Australia.

The approach is some of the varieties are co-fermented, others are not, the blending process is strategic and considered. Wines are driven by a vision of style, with each wine produced according to its style outcome and based on the individual qualities of the vineyard. This may involve different pruning techniques, green harvest or bunch thinning, differing dates for harvest, differing treatment of grapes pre-ferment, and then in the winery.

Notes of ripe blackberries and cherries dance alongside hints of vanilla and spice. The smooth tannins and lingering finish make it a perfect companion for a hearty stew and mashed potatoes.
