Dr Loosen Red Slate, Dry Riesling

The Loosen family has been making wine in the Mosel Valley for over 200 years. The current owner Erni is probably one of the most influential winemakers in the area. This is an estate wine from Dr Loosen meaning that the grapes are grown in a number of different estate vineyards. Most of the steep Mosel Valley vineyards are in fact blue slate soils however around the villages of Erden, Urzig and Kinheim the slate is actually red. The wine is intense and concentrated yet extremely pure and fresh.
