Dr. L Riesling Dry

Riesling can be quite a difficult variety to get ones head around. The problem that we often find is that we are never sure whether the wine will be sweet or not. The amount of sugar left in a Reisling is generally not mentioned. The good folks at Dr Loosen have changed that by putting “Dry” on the label signalling that the wine has no sugar remaining and the resulting wine is crisp, light and refreshing.

The Loosen family has been growing Riesling and producing wine in the Mosel valley for over 200 years. Ernst “Erni” Loosen, assumed ownership of his family’s estate in 1988 and embarked on a quest to greatly improve the quality and international reputation of the estate, the Mosel region, and Riesling in general. He hitched up with his brothers and developed the Loosen Bros brand to be an ambassador for the Mosel at an approachable price.

Don’t be scared off by Reisling, it is an amazingly versatile variety. Many experienced wine critics say that Riesling is the Queen of all white grapes. You can make your own mind up about that but we don’t drink enough of this variety and that is a real shame. Smash it with some sashimi and we might be able to convert you.
