Domaine Rewa Riesling

Domaine Rewa produces only 15,000 bottles of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and this ideal apéritif Riesling. The Otago winemaking legend Peter Bartle is the man behind it and some seriously good wine from the Central Otago region – we’re talking Wooing Tree, Lowburn Ferry, Domain Road, Mt Pisa and more.

In 2010 Philippa Fourbet was on the lookout for a vineyard site with all the right ingredients to produce world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in her ancestral Central Otago. Taking a leap of faith, Philippa purchased the 5.5-hectare vineyard that would become Domaine Rewa sight unseen in the Lowburn and Pisa range sub regions. The name Rewa is a homage to Philippa’s, Granny.  A brilliant woman, who, like the wines aged gracefully and provided inspiration and courage to all around her.

The French twist is her hubby Yannick -The French Potter. His dream extends beyond the vineyard, honey and olive oil. He is aiming to create New Zealand’s inaugural clay amphora’s!

A medium dry style with subtle sweetness and lower alcohol at just 11.5% make this a perfect lunchtime or pre-meal tipple.
