Cusumano Nero D’Avola

The Nero d’Avola variety translates as the black grape of Avola, a town in the south east region. It is considered one of the most important varieties in the hot dry climate of Sicily.

A couple of brothers behind the Cusumano winery, based near the town of Corleone in Sicily could be easily mistaken as cast members of the Sopranos. Diego and Alberto Cusumano value the artistic excellence and meticulous detail which allows them to create modern, innovative and dynamic wines rather than living to stereotypes.

Nero d’Avola wines are often compared to the the Shiraz found in Australia, but this version has more elegance, less obvious fruit and more of a rustic, Italian, leathery character. Match with rich, meaty meats. Perfect for those cooler nights with a roaring fire.
