Contessa di Radda Toscana

A very typical feeling Tuscan red with its dusty tannins and rustic nature. Unusually for this area the wine is made predominantly from Merlot mixed with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot which are all regarded as French varieties.

In the hills around the Chianti Classico area 17 farmers joined forces to create a cooperative that would champion the heritage of the Tuscany region. These farmers fully understood the important link between the land and the wine. The land was what brought the farmers together. The wine is a tribute to Countess Willa of Tuscany who in 978 founded the oldest Benedictine monastery in Florence. Countess Willa also donated the town of Radda to the Roman Empire which is why her face is on the label. So much history in only 750mls of wine!

Medium-bodied with tastes of espresso, toasted nuts and black cherrys. Sounds and tastes – oh so very much like central Italy.
