Cloud Cuckoo Land – Fiano & Zibibbo

Sometimes we come across a wine that is just a bit of fun and it makes us smile! This is one of these wines as you can probably guess by the name and the label. A blend of 80% Fiano and 20% bush vine Zibibbo varieties.

Both Zibbibo and Finao are native to the southern parts of Italy, and both varieties are known for their aromatic profiles. Zibibbo is in fact thought to originate from the Muscat family. We are actually starting to see some plantings of Fiano here in NZ where it creates wines with great acidity and freshness.

Cloud Cuckoo Land is an imaginary state of absurd over optimism. Here, anything is possible if you don’t see obstacles, you challenge the received wisdom and resist the naysayers. The wine is vibrant and interesting with great fruit flavours and freshness.
