Chateau Musar, Jeune Red

'Jeune' means young, so this red blend is made for more youthful drinking than the renowned and long-lived Chateau Musar. Still powerful and comprised of Cinsault 50% Syrah 35% and Cabernet Sauvignon 15%

In 1930, at just 20 years old, Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar, inspired by Lebanon’s 6,000-year winemaking tradition and his travels in Bordeaux. The Chateau Musar lies in a 17th century Mzar castle in Ghazir, just North of Beruit overlooking the Mediterranean sea. One of the great wines of the world Chateau Musar has been run by Gaston’s sons, Serge (who studied winemaking under the great Emile Peynaud at the University of Bordeaux).

This is an unoaked red wine, with a savoury, earthy depth and a touch of spice and black pepper. Deep purple beetroot colour with a nose and palate of more red fruits like strawberries and cherries. Perfect to have with a spicey selection of middle eastern dishes like kebabs, falafel and tabbouleh. Something truely different from the varieties in the blend, where it is from – this is a brilliant wine to introduce at a dinner to WOW your mates.
