Casa d’Ambra Ischia Bianco DOC

Everything you could want out of a white from southern Italy, but with a certain extra something special. Fresh white blossoms and dusty stony aromatic characters that make you think of the rocky volcanic island of Ischia, where the grapes are grown. Zippy citrus, nectarine and apricot, and fabulously mouthwatering salinity on the tongue. Close your eyes and imagine the clear turquoise waters of the Italian coast.

Ischia is a very small, very stony, very steep volcanic island off the coast of Naples–slightly bigger and not too far away from the Island of Capri. Aside from idylic clear waters, thermal hot springs, quaint fishing villages, Roman ruins and medieval architecture, the island also amazingly has vineyards planted on it, most of which are planted at an elevation of 600m above sea level. The winemakers of this volcanic island are referred to as angeli matti – crazy angels – due to the extreme conditions they face in growing and harvesting grapes on the steep, rocky terraces.
This refreshing and very food friendly wine is made of a 50/50 blend of two of the island’s better-known varieties, Biancolella & Forastera.
