Black Estate Home Pinot Noir

One of North Canterbury's finest producers and the wines are every bit as good as people say. Careful attention to detail from people who love what they do is seen in the quality of the wine and everything else that they offer.

For me, North Canterbury is a forgotten gem of the New Zealand wine industry. This is probably because it is a group of small producers who just get on doing what they do, making amazing wines and generally being eclectic. Black Estate is a leader in the area with a fantastic restaurant and some pretty impressive vineyard sites in the rolling hills of the Waipara Valley. All farmed biodynamically, Penny and Nick who run the property are pretty keen to make sure that the wines have a true sense of their place and are great reflections of the North Canterbury Region. This is fantastic Pinot Noir from their Home Vineyard with complexity gained from a portion of whole berry ferments. No filtration or fining.
