Belasco de Baquedano Llama Torrentes

Most of you will know that Argentina makes incredible high altitude wines from the red Malbec grape. Very few of you will have come across their white signature variety called Torrontés.

This wine is grown in the Cafayete Valley at high altitudes, in this case 7,200 feet above sea level. The winery is lucky enough to have very old vines of original Malbec vines first planted in 1910 – these old vines are the secret to Belasco De Baquedano’s success. The old vines consistently produce wines that are full-bodied, juicy and complex with layers of flavour development.

Torrontés wines are known for their floral bouquet, often with notes of jasmine, rose petals, and citrus blossoms, along with bright flavors of peach, apricot, and tropical fruit. They typically have a fresh acidity and a medium to full body, making them wonderfully refreshing. A slightly musky aroma can sometime be noticed. Thisis characteristic of the grape and adds to its intrigue. Great with spicy cuisine.
