Alois Lageder Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio from Italy is definitely different to Pinot Gris from NZ even though it is the same variety. We think that the white wines from Italy are less showy and often significantly more dry than their counterparts from this part of the world. So if you really like NZ versions then we apologise, but its good to try something different anyway!

This biodynamic producer has a holistic approach to grape growing ensuring they are in tune with nature and soil health. At a working level this means that they do not use chemicals or synthetic products when growing grapes or making wine. The label is a very abstract picture of crushed grapes – just FYI.

The wine from this region are said to be more lean like the Germanic wines. This Pinot Grigio is medium bodied, dry yet quite rich and spicy. We recon this with this complexity, it would be worth celllaring for a few years to allow this to develop further?
