Alkina, Kin Shiraz

ALKINA’ is an Indigenous Australian girl’s name meaning ‘Moon’ or ‘Moonlight’. Ancient stones and soils, organic and biodynamic viticulture, small scale winemaking and the creation of unique micro-terroir wines, grown and made on in the Western Barossa ranges.

There’s sweet fruit flavour and yet there’s savouriness spreading to all corners. It tastes of blackberry and plum, a graphite-like nuance and a smoky element too. Everything here feels neat, ordered and in unison. Tannin, particularly once the wine has had a chance to breathe, expands impressively through (what is in essence) a medium weight wine.
