Twomey Cellars “Russian River Valley” Pinot Noir

Lovers of bold, lush, expressive pinot noirs, look no further. Pinot Noirs from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma, California are highly regarded and loved around the world. You'll see why when you try one. This is one of 11 different regionally-specific Pinot Noirs that Twomey Cellars makes. (Can you tell they're serious about this grape?) In fact, their Russian River Valley Pinot was the very first that the winery produced. This bottle exudes generosity, depth and charm all at once. Deep, dark fruit, floral and savoury notes. Structured but plush tannins. Stunning and very classic.

Twomey Cellars is the child of a long legacy of wine making in California. Interestingly, the parent family of this winery is the founding family of Silver Oak in Napa. World-famous for their Cabernet Sauvignons, you might think it strange that they would then go on to create a winery that focuses on Pinot Noir. But then you taste the wines of Twomey Cellars and you realize that good winemaking can in fact span many grape varieties, as long as the grape and the land are respected. This family knows wine. And in their journey to make great Pinot Noir, they’ve intentionally sought out the most classic and special AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) from California to Oregon to highlight in their bottlings. Twomey’s winemaker, though American, earned his degrees in viticulture and oenology in Burgundy, and carries with him experience working at the first-class Domaine Faiveley. The whole point of the Twomey wines is to highlight the wonderfully unique and important differences between every one of their vineyards.

This is a gorgeous bottling, especially as an entry into understanding the nature of Russian River Valley Pinots and also the Pinots of California.
