Rockferry, Brookby Springs Vineyard, Pinot Noir

From humble beginnings growing grapes under contract for top New Zealand wine producers, husband and wife, Tom Hutchison and Fiona Harvey, embarked upon creating a wine estate based on organic winegrowing practices to showcase the inherent characteristics of their vineyard properties. Highly respected winemaker, Allan McWilliams along with Winemaker Jordan Hogg and their dedicated team, continue to produce premium, sought-after organic Rockferry wines today.

Situated in the hills of the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, vineyards here are making some really interesting Pinot Noir that should not be discounted. Organically farmed with its own natural spring, hence the name, Brookby Springs is a vineyard that provides interesting texture and body to the wines produced. This is not a big Pinot Noir but rather one with elegance and finesse giving you all you need from Pinot without being heavy on its feet. Wood smoke and wildflowers, red plums and ripe black cherry flesh, vanilla and cinnamon, toasty barrel and a harmonious floral lift. An alluring bouquet overall. Dry, varietal, ripe, fruity, and delicious on the palate, flavours of red berries and plum, baking spices of barrel and wildflowers all reflect the bouquet. Try it with duck or something with natural earthiness to it like roast beets or mushrooms.
