Pazo Casanova Treixadura

Aromatic, crisp, racy and refreshing. Don’t let the X in the name scare you off. After all, X is usually where treasure can be found. This white wine from northwestern Spain is such a gem, and just wait till you start matching it with food. The world's your oyster.

Winemaking goes back to Roman times in Galicia. In this famous wine region in northwest Spain, cool, wet, windy conditions from the Atlantic Ocean are actually what help their grape varieties thrive. Here in New Zealand, we’ve become familiar with Galicia as the homeland of the Albarino grape. However, there are other grape varieties that are just as important and delicious from this area, and Treixadura is one of them. (Hint: the “x” in the word is pronounced with a “sh” sound).
This is anything but a simple white wine. Fresh and vibrant at first, there’s also a dewy herb garden and preserved citrus character to this wine that just makes you want to keep going back for that next sip.
