Godelia, Viernes Mencia

Bierzo is a region in Spain found in the north west corner above Portugal. Mencia is the main red variety found in the region. This is a light, easy drinking wine and the perfect introduction to Bierzo wines.

Godelia wine comes from a combination of very old schist-soiled mountain vines and maturing vines from the clay hill-slopes in the centre of the valley. The name Godelia, is winemaker Vicente’s invention. It is made up of a combination of the white variety Godello and Lias which mean wine lees. Their aim is always to transmit terroir, sensitivity and elegance in the wines.

Godelia was born at the end of 2009 as the dream of García Rodríguez family to develop the viticulture in El Bierzo and create value and a future for the region with responsible viticulture being the driving force behind the winemaking. This wine is made using his youngest vines that are 30 years old. You can expect redfruit, blue florals, fine and fleshy tannins with dark cooking spices (clove, nutmeg, pepper-corn) with a hint of game and earth on the finish. We recommend you enjoy it with any BBQ and good company!
