Delas, Saint Esprit, Cotes du Rhone

We have often said that the wines of the Rhone Valley are some of the best value wines on the market. In particular the Cotes du Rhone wines which is a generic appellation name for wines sourced from vineyards scattered throughout the second largest grape growing region in France. We love these wines for their approachability and drinkability. We are very seldom disappointed by a bottle of Cotes du Rhone. Normally the wines are blends of mainly the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan varieties. This wine just uses Syrah and Grenache.

Delas has enjoyed a massive resurgence since being acquired by the famous Louis Roederer Champagne House quite a few years back. They one of the bigger players in the region with vineyards and grape sources all over the valley making them extremely reliable.

The wine is probably more classically Syrah tasting than other versions showing enticing peppery notes. Made for BBQ’ed or roasted red meats.
