Chateau Fontanche, Les Uyeres

Located at the foothills of the Cevennes mountains, St. Chinian is one of the most prestigious appellations in the Languedoc. This wine is a red blend consisting of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 20% Carignan. The wine is complex, fruity, spicy, and bold, with a long well-structured finish.

Chateau Fontanche is in the village of Quarante, a small village in the south of France. The 30 acres of vines extend through woods, hills, and a 600ft plateau, offering a magnificent view of the Pyrenees and Mediterranean Sea. For the estate, these are old vines with an average of 60 years of growth. While these wine are being drank all around the world and the label continues to grow, it is still a small family run business and is not uncommon to find three genreations working side-by-side in the vineyard. The name “Les Uyeres” comes from the name of a 12th century castle located close to Chateau Fontanche.

The wine is complex, spicy and mineral, with aromas of ripe red fruits, licorice, and garrigue spices. On the palate, it is fruity, spicy, and bold, with a long well-structured finish. Drink over the next 5 years with meats, cheeses, or hearty dishes.
