Chapoutier Bila Haut

A really interesting blend of Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Macabeu. We don’t think we have any of these varieties growing here in NZ which is why we are so intrigued with how wines made from these varieties taste. And they taste great! The palate is round which suits Chardonnay drinkers but it does not have any oak. It has crisp acidity which means it also would suit those who prefer lighter wines. That makes it perfect for nearly any white wine drinker!

Chapoutier is one of the more famous Rhone producers. This wine is not from the Rhone Valley but from the village of Latour de France in the more southern appellation of Roussillon. These southern France areas are warmer and therefore the wines are riper and more approachable.

A lot of freshness on the finish mixed with salty notes and citrus aromas. Food friends would be crayfish, calamari or a punchy ripe Camembert – yummy!
