Casa Santos Lima “Colossal” Reserva Tinto

Craving a "big" red? Look no further, friends. This wine definitely got its name for a reason. But "big" doesn't at all mean clunky here. This rich, robust blend of 4 varieties is skillfully made and offers a feast of aromas and flavours--drippingly ripe, concentrated dark fruits, crushed herbs, deep spices, toast and tobacco--without ever being over the top. Makes us think of liquid velvet. Sit yourself next to the fire, curl up with a good book or bring out the brisket for this one.

Another smashing wine from Casa Satos Lima, the Colossal Reserva Tinto (Tinto means “red” in Spanish and Portuguese) is just too good to pass up. Bordering indulgent, but with powerful, fleshy structure that speaks of seriousness, too. The grapes used to make this colossal wine are some of the most classic Portuguese red varieties: thick-skinned Touriga Nacional, brambly Tempranillo, aromatic Alicante Buschet, and also spicy Syrah. You start to understand where this wine gets it personality when you break down the grape varieties.  We highly recommend enjoying this complex, elegant and bold wine now, (because who wants to wait?) but you can also easily set this bottle down for further maturing.
