Astrolabe, Wrekin Chenin Blanc

In Astrolabe we have one the few passionate chenin blanc NZ winemakers in Simon Waghorn, it can be a rewarding varietal and produce very serious, elegant and age worthy wine.

This classy, single-vineyard wine was hand-picked in the Southern Valleys with indigenous yeast. Very little manipulation from the winemaker to let the whole cluster press bring the wine alive.

A really delicious dry chenin blanc with just the merest hint of fruit sweetness. Lovely aromas of fresh Granny Smith apple, a little beeswax and lanolin.

This Loire style drinks beautifully now, but will soften and become more honeyed with some cellaring.
