Adelina Grenache

The label for this wine is noticeably different and so is the wine inside. The very pale colour is almost Rose like but the wine certainly packs more punch than that.

Grenache from 80-year-old vines is quite distinctive it seems. The colour of the wine instantly gets you thinking of lighter wines but when you taste it you can definitely see the power and concentration in the wine. Jennie Gardner and Colin McBride are the huge brains behind this label. Both have PhD qualifications and to make it even better Col is a New Zealander. They have taken an old vineyard and winery situated right next to the renowned Wendouree winery and really focussed on producing fruit that is a true expression of the history of the site. Originally told to rip the old vines out, they resisted and by doing so they have almost gained cult-like status amongst those in the know for their distinctive and characterful wines. McBryde believes that humility, honesty and dedication are required to grow vines and make wines with the stamp of where they are from.
